Navigate® is a granular systemic aquatic herbicide that helps you selectively control listed nuisance weeds in ponds, lakes, reservoirs, and other slow-moving waters. Its 2,4-D granules sink to the bottom for root-zone uptake, making it a strong fit for early-season watermilfoil and other listed problem plants.

  • Gradual action; treated growth breaks down over 2 to 3 weeks
  • Selective fit; targets listed weeds while desirable natives can remain
  • Root-zone placement; sinking granules deliver active where uptake matters
  • Broad site fit; made for ponds, lakes, reservoirs, and other slow-moving waters
  • Water-use awareness; check label for drinking-water and non-turf irrigation limits
  • Trusted registration; EPA-registered with official label directions and rates

Choose Navigate for precise granular control across listed aquatic weed beds.

Always follow label directions.

Why Choose a Granular Systemic Aquatic Herbicide?

  • Better placement: Sinking granules carry active ingredient into the critical root-zone area.
  • Simpler handling: You can broadcast the product with common spreading tools instead of mixing a liquid application on site.
  • More confidence: Label-backed rates, timing, and water-use directions make treatment planning clearer.

What is Navigate, and when is it the right choice?
Navigate is a selective granular aquatic herbicide for unwanted weeds in ponds, lakes, reservoirs, marshes, bayous, drainage ditches, non-irrigation canals, and still or slow-moving rivers and streams. It is a strong fit when you want targeted control of listed aquatic weeds, especially early in the season, while allowing desirable native aquatic species to remain.
Will Navigate work on milfoil, water lilies, coontail, and other common pond weeds?
Navigate is labeled for water milfoil, water stargrass, bladderwort, white and yellow water lily, watershield, water chestnut, coontail, and spatterdock. It works especially well on Eurasian watermilfoil. Coontail and spatterdock can be more stubborn, so repeat treatment may be needed in some situations.
Will it affect fish or desirable aquatic plants?
Navigate is designed for selective control and labeled for aquatic use, so it targets listed nuisance weeds instead of clearing all aquatic vegetation. Treatment planning still matters because decaying weeds use dissolved oxygen as they break down. In dense infestations, treat in sections so fish have untreated water available during the control process.
How much Navigate do I need, and how much does a 50 lb bag cover?
The right amount depends on the weed type, the size of the treatment area, average water depth, and how dense the growth is. For floating and emergent weeds, the label allows up to 21 lbs per surface acre per application. For submersed weeds, Navigate is dosed by acre-foot, meaning surface area plus average depth, with label examples of 28.4 lbs of product per acre-foot under typical conditions and 56.8 lbs per acre-foot under difficult conditions. Once you know both the treatment area and the average depth, choosing quantity becomes much more straightforward.
When should I apply Navigate for the best results?
For best results, apply Navigate in spring or early summer when weeds are just starting to grow. Early application gives the granules time to reach the root zone before weeds form dense mats or reach the surface. Later treatments can still work, but they are more likely to need a second application and may be less effective after September.
How do I apply Navigate, and can I use it around docks or isolated patches?
Navigate is ready to apply as a granule, so there is no spray mixing step. Broadcast it evenly with a spreader or blower for larger areas, or use a portable spreader or hand scoop for smaller spots around docks or isolated weed patches. For the most even coverage, the label recommends splitting the measured amount into two passes applied at right angles.
How long does it take to work, and can I re-treat if needed?
Navigate works systemically through the plant and root zone, so results build rather than appearing as an instant surface burn-down. During the growing season, treated weeds typically decompose over about 2 to 3 weeks. If regrowth appears within 6 to 8 weeks, a second application may be needed. The label allows up to two applications per season with at least 21 days between treatments.
Are there any water-use restrictions after application?
Yes. Swimming is restricted for at least 24 hours after application. Irrigation and drinking-water use may also be restricted, and the exact timing depends on whether you are treating floating, emergent, or submersed weeds, along with setback and testing conditions. If you use treated water for irrigation or potable supply, review the label before applying, and remember that public-water treatments may require permits.
What conditions can reduce performance?
Navigate works best when water pH is below 8 and treatments are made before weeds become dense. High pH, bottom springs, deeper water, heavy water turnover, and late-season mat growth can all reduce control or make retreatment more likely. In heavier growth, applying in lanes or sections can also help maintain dissolved oxygen while weeds decompose.

Effective shoreline weed control for our lake

Verified Purchase

I purchased this to help get rid of Parrot Feather and Milfoil that has taken over ¾ of our lake. I applied 50 pounds in two treatments, applying it to the shoreline covering my property. It started working at around the 10 day mark and has cleared our area nicely. Great for what we needed.

Directions were a bit confusing but the customer support was able to help. Worked well on our weeds and the blue dye adds a nice touch.

Fast action on pondweeds

Verified Purchase

Showed signs of working within 2 weeks on our pondweeds. It worked pretty fast.

David Chen, WI
Mixed results after full season use

Verified Purchase

We used from March until September. The 1/3 acre pond was dyed black. The Pondweed was reduced but not all was eliminated, so I am guessing more will return next year. We tested it on a 30 foot by 30 foot section of very dense weed and it did not really do too much. The pond does not look much better than when we started.

Jay Evanoski, PA
Expensive and no results.

Verified Purchase

I used the product exactly as instructed and after 4 weeks, little has changed. No improvement. I am very disappointed. I have previously used other chemicals successfully and will now have to spend more money to do this all over again.

Michael Brooks
Impressive results on water lilies

What can you say about a product that actually killed the water lillies surrounding my dock in 10 days? It worked.

Greg Hess, AL
